Can I import photos into OnSong from the Photos App?

When you install OnSong, the Add To OnSong action is automatically installed on your system. This allows you to import content from nearly any iOS or iPadOS app through the built-in activities menu that appears when you tap on the icon that looks like a square with an up arrow.

iOS/iPadOS 13
In iOS/iPadOS 13 and higher, actions appear in a list below the row of app icons. If you don't see the Add To OnSong action, tap on the "Edit Actions..." link at the bottom to enable it.  Then tap on the Add To OnSong row to queue selected photos or videos for importing into OnSong.  The next time you open OnSong, you'll. be prompted to import the files into your OnSong library.

iOS 12 and earlier
If you are running an older version of iOS, the menu will appear with two rows of icons. Browse the row of grayscale icons for the Add To OnSong action. If it's not available, tap on the "More..." icon at the end of the list and enable it.  Then tap on the Add To OnSong icon to queue the selected photos or videos into OnSong.

Importing Photos
When you import photos, OnSong must decide what to do with the image file.  If the file is in a portrait orientation, it is automatically added as a song in your OnSong library.  If it's in landscape orientation, OnSong will import it into the Background Media Library for use as a background image for Lyrics Projection. One caveat to this is if all four corners of a landscape image are near white. In that scenario, OnSong will import the file into the Songs list.  You can change how OnSong imports image files by going into the Utilities Menu by tapping on the gear icon in the Menubar and then choose Settings, Import Settings, and Image File Handling and make adjustments there.

Importing Videos
Just as you can import photos into OnSong from the Photos app, you can also select videos too. In this case, OnSong will always import those files into your Background Media Library for use as motion backgrounds for Lyrics Projection.  Have fun and make your own slow motion backgrounds!
