How do I backup or restore to/from Dropbox?

Thanks for using OnSong!

First, ensure that you are backing your device to either to iTunes or iCloud. We recommend iCloud since it backs up automatically and in the background. If your iPad is ever lost, damaged or stolen, you can sign into your Apple ID with a new iPad and all your data, documents and apps should be restored.  You can learn more about backing up and restoring your iOS device here: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203977

The advantage to a full backup is that you can restore to a new device. The trouble is that this can take a lot of time and requires the new device to be completely wiped. If your iPad is lost, damaged or stolen, you might have time to make this switch before you go on stage.

OnSong has the ability to back up and restore just your OnSong library.  This means you can install OnSong on any device in a pinch and import your backup file.  OnSong can even do this automatically in the background after you have it all set up.  We recommend using Dropbox since it will make your library available to be restored anywhere you have an Internet connection. To backup, Select the Utilities Menu--> Backup--> Export Location--> Select Dropbox-->  Sign into your Dropbox account.  If you need a Dropbox account, you can create one for free at http://dropbox.com/  Choose the place you'd like to save the backup and tap "Choose"--> Next you rename your backup file to what you would like--> Then toggle Automatic Backup to On--> Select the timing interval that will work best for you by tapping on the plus or minus symbols--> then tap on Backup to start your initial backup.

If you ever need to restore your backup, go into Songs --> All Songs and tap on the "+" button as if you were importing songs.  Tap on Dropbox and sign in.  Locate your backup file, and place a checkmark next to the backup file by tapping on it.  OnSong will warn you that importing a backup will overwrite the existing library.  Once you agree, OnSong will download and restore your library just the way it was.
