Why does OnSong cost so much compared to other apps?

OnSong is unlike many apps on the App Store.  While 90% of apps are free, OnSong is a paid premium app.  This is because it's not a game. It's not a novelty. It's not a project that someone made in their spare time. OK, well it actually was, but since then that person quit their day job and turned it into a full-fledged small business devoted to meeting the needs of musicians around the world.  When you buy OnSong, you invest in a team of developers and musicians who work tirelessly to meet the needs of a vibrant community.

OnSong has a lot of functionality for the price. Many users claim that aside from their instrument, OnSong is the most valuable part of their performance. Those of us who work at OnSong are dedicated to building the best app for musicians and continue to find ways to help musicians be more effective in their music.  We continue to add value and ensure the app runs on new versions of the operating system while performing on older hardware. While there are a tremendous number of features in OnSong, we do have a very limited set of in-app purchases which appear in the App Store.  Most of the time these are included with the app, or involve third-party licensing which is why they are kept separate from the main purchase.

OnSong is under constant development and provides first-class support with no additional fees*.  All of this costs money to provide a level of service and functionality for a small business. OnSong isn't a game, but a professional tool for musicians and we treat that responsibility seriously.  We think you'll find that a small, one-time purchase for a lifetime of support and constant improvement is well worth the investment. We are passionate about OnSong and take our role in the life of musicians serious.  It simply costs money to provide the level of quality and service we and our customers demand.

*OnSong provides a Fast Track service that bumps any service request to maximum priority and immediate response for a few bucks.
